At CRUZA, we understand that many travelers are concerned about security deposits. Unfortunately, some customers have had bad experiences with rental companies that delay refunds, make unexplained deductions, or provide little information about the process.

That’s exactly why we do things differently.

Our goal is simple:

Your security deposit belongs to you. We only hold it temporarily and will never deduct anything without clear and official documentation.


Option 1: Credit Card Security Deposit (Recommended)

The security deposit can be secured using a credit card pre-authorization (hold).

This is not a charge and the money is not collected by CRUZA.

The amount is temporarily blocked by your bank for up to 30 days after vehicle return and is automatically released by the banking system once the holding period ends.

Why 30 days?

In Oman, traffic violations sometimes appear in the official system days or weeks after the rental period ends. The holding period allows us to verify that no delayed fines are issued against the vehicle.

If no violations are registered, the hold is automatically released in full.


Option 2: Cash Security Deposit

If you prefer not to use a credit card, you may leave the security deposit in cash.

The deposit will be held for up to 30 days after vehicle return for the same verification process.

Once the holding period is completed, the full amount will be returned through:

  • Bank transfer
  • International transfer
  • Any mutually agreed payment method

What Happens If a Traffic Fine Appears?

Transparency is extremely important to us.

If a violation is issued during your rental period:

  1. We will send you the official violation report issued by the Royal Oman Police.
  2. We will explain the details clearly.
  3. You can choose the most suitable solution:

Option A

Pay the violation separately.

In this case, your full security deposit remains untouched and will be released normally.

Option B

Authorize us to deduct the violation amount from the security deposit.

The remaining balance will then be released or refunded immediately.

We never make deductions without official government documentation.


Will CRUZA Deduct Money for No Reason?

Absolutely not.

CRUZA does not deduct money based on assumptions, estimates, or internal decisions.

Any deduction must be supported by official documentation such as:

  • Traffic violation records
  • Vehicle damage reports (if applicable)
  • Other documented obligations directly related to the rental agreement

We believe every customer deserves complete visibility regarding any charge.

Security Deposit Policy

The security deposit amount varies depending on the selected vehicle and will be clearly displayed for each car.

Credit Card Deposits

If you pay using a credit card, the security deposit will be pre-authorized (blocked) on your card at the time of vehicle pickup.

The amount will remain blocked for up to 30 days after the vehicle is returned and will be automatically released.

Cash Deposits (No Credit Card)

If you do not have a credit card, the security deposit can be paid in cash at the time of pickup.

The deposit will be returned via bank transfer within 30 days after the vehicle is returned.

Any bank transfer fees (usually between 2–5 OMR depending on the bank) will be covered by the renter.

Cardoo Option

If you choose the Cardoo (Deposit Free) option, no security deposit is required.

Important Notes

  • The selected vehicle is subject to availability at the time of booking confirmation. If it is unavailable, a similar or equivalent alternative will be offered.
  • All prices are inclusive of VAT (5%).
  • Extras are subject to availability.
  • Camping and outdoor equipment is intended for outdoor leisure use only.
  • Any damage, loss, or misuse of extras will be charged to the renter.
